Wurst – Another classic, sausage is a favorite of the beer-swilling crowd.Brezeln (soft pretzel) - The quintessential German snack has a place on almost every Speisekarte (menu).Brotzeit - Some form of "bread time " is the basic snack of the biergarten menu. In Munich this might be black bread, Obatzter (soft white cheese mixed with onions and chives), sausage, pickle and radish.I guess take your chances if you dine there. I wish I had taken a photo - I think the rat might’ve posed for me. He grabbed a dish towel and knocked it to the ground and it ran around the room. We pointed out the rat and the waiter didn’t appear too shocked. The waiter came back with our beers and right on cue, the rat ran across the bar again. The rat ran back and forth along the bar and then went out of sight. He went to the front bar to get our beers at which point a rat appeared on top of the bar in the back room. Waiter informed us of the happy hour specials and we ordered two half pints of Spaten Lager. We sat at the table by the gas fireplace. and entered the indoor, heated dining room. We got there and there were 2 people at the bar. So my colleague and I were in the mood for some German food so we checked out the menu online and thought we’d give this place a try. But we would definately go back to the Biergartenhaus to try more beers and relax on a lazy afternoon. If you prefer something more subdued and formal then I would suggest that you wander about 1 mile over to Cafe Berlin which also has about the best Jagerschnitzel around and several excellent beers on tap. It has that nice lively but relaxed atmosphere one expects from a biergarten. The biergarten filled quickly with a predominantly 20 something crowd meeting friends and having a beer on a nice Saturday afternoon. The food arrived promptly and was spot-on good and filling. We ordered the 3 sausage platter ($20) and Schweinhaxe ($24) with potato pancake and red cabbage. I had the Weihenstephaner Oktoberfest and my wife had the Franziskaner Hefe-Weiss. But from our experience on a Saturday afternoon don't expect to have a waiter/waitress come check in on you. I did not catch the bartenders name but he was very friendly and courteous. You order your beer ($8 half liter/$15 full liter) and food at the bar which is very much the way I remember doing it in the Hirschgarten in Munich. biergarten and then up a flight of stair to a roof top biergarten! How cool is that! Now we did not know what to expect and this is a VERY relaxed atmosphere. There was no hostess so we followed other patrons into the next room which is also a bar and then out into a.
